All students in K5 through 8th grades are administered the Stanford Achievement Tests each spring. Certain grades are also required to take the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test each year.
PROMOTION POLICIES
Kindergarten through 5th grade
The classroom teacher and principal will promote students upon satisfactory completion of the prescribed course of study and subjective evaluation.
6th through 8th grade
Students must pass language arts, math, science, and social studies. A student who fails one of these core subjects will not be promoted. Credit for a failed class may be earned by attending and successfully completing a summer school session at KCS.
SUMMER TUTORING
Kindergarten/Elementary
Summer tutoring will be required for strengthening in math and language- related areas, especially if the yearly average is unsatisfactory (below a C-).
6th through 8th grade
Summer school will be required for students who need to earn credits in courses they failed. Students must attain at least a C average in order to get credit. Tutoring may also be required of incoming and current students who need to strengthen weak academic skills.
